APRIL
Long time no blog, per usual. April was booked and busy for me, so I thought I could sum it all up (and add all the outfit links) in one spot, so welcome! Let’s start from the end and work our way back up to the start, shall we?
Cover picture is the new crochet “humungous fungus” art installation in downtown Springdale, that happened to match perfectly my new woven beach bag, blue checkered pants, and tan checkered bodysuit.
This last weekend was my sororitiy’s formal Thursday, friend group senior pictures Friday, then family trip to Hot Springs, AR to Oaklawn Horse Races + Dominic Fike concert Saturday. A plus of staying in your college town post grad one more semester until all your friends graduate is still attending the multiple “lasts” that Spring graduating seniors get to do, like the last formal function. Our friends got a party bus for the evening, and wore formal dresses. Which, not sure if you have had to buy a formal dress in a bit, but they are a tad hard to find! I ordered two dresses kind of last minute, and my roommate Kendall showed me this Nicole Miller “My Happy Place” maxi dress, that I ended up going with for the night. I feel like I haven't seen the printed motif look a ton, and I really liked it. I had to order a large and alter the back to fit me, and found a good deal off of Macys.com, but now a week later from ordering I am seeing the dress is out of stock almost everywhere. Don’t fret though, I did find it in stock at one place here. I wore DSW multi color short heels with it, and my silver embellished Kurt Geiger.
To senior pictures, I wore a slip dress I found at local Half of Half! Yes, yes, I am graduated, but another one of our friends Allison who also graduated in December like I did was in town so we both joined in for group senior pictures that we will have to commemorate our college times :’).
After pictures, I jumped in the car with my parents and headed to meet my brother, sister in law, and my nieces in Hot Springs for an early Mothers Day celebration at Oaklawn Horse Races. We went to The Colonial Pancake and Waffle House, and I got eggs bacon and peach and cream cheese stuffed French toast, it was so yum. Then headed to Oaklawn! I wore an old Free People eyelet lace ruffled skirt (linked similar here) with a Free People denim lace up top (that I found for $22 at TJ Maxx- linked a similar one here) with Anthropolgie platform heels and my H&M purse (love that it looks similar to the Dior tapestry totes). Then headed back to Fayetteville for a Dominic Like concert, and wore my neon pink Skims top, jeans, and pink checkered vans.
Northwest Arkansas got two tulip farms in the area, so of course I had to visit each. One was in Springdale (Wildwood Lane Tulip Farm) and the other in Bentonville (True Colors Farm by PerspectAbility). Three years ago, I remember wanting to go to on a tulip farm date soo bad, and now I’m so happy that I have been able to go to Texas Tulips last year, and now in my own hometown area this year. I wore my gifted Parade ribbed midi dress, with my go to neon green American Eagle cardigan, Anthropolgie paisley heels, and gifted Parade scarf in my hair with my plastic orange basket purse. To the other, I went with my mom and rewore one of my favorite outfits, my Free People rainbow plaid two piece set (it has come in and out of stock multiple times the past couple of years, I got it on sale for under $50 two years ago) + Seychelle’s espadrille sandals.
To my boyfriend’s last college date night function, I wore a $10 Akrira find with my knee high yellow boots. The dress was a tad out of my comfort zone, but I really loved this outfit (especially with loads of self tan on) and you might see me rewear again this summer. To the function, which is FrattyShack (golf themed), I wore a tan and white plaid bodysuit (TJ Maxx), high top converse, blue Lululemon skirt, and a cardigan tied on my shoulders. To Tom’s second to last college function (I’m telling you April was a doozy) I last minute borrowed a ClubLondon white sequin dress from my roommate and wore my knee high white boots with it to date night. Then to row, which is the Coachella / University of Arkansas festival-on-college-campus version, I wore a $20 Akira white ruffle pants and long sleeve (see through) set with checkered high top vans, H&M glasses, and a yellow tank underneath. The set was a success, and ate my first crawfish there lol.
Along with formal being one of the lasts of the lasts for sorority life, we had a senior night at Sassafras a local winery. I rewore another one of my favorite pieces, a ByTheWay Revolve dress I wore for my high school graduation with Soludos platforms. To Pansy Brunch and Circle Degree, which are what the Tri Delta sorority does officially to signify us becoming alums, I wore a gifted Hazel and Olive white tiered dress (that gives me chill LoveShackFancy vibes).
Earlier in the month of April, I had a bridesmaids luncheon for my friend Nicole. I wore this super pretty cut out pink midi dress I found at a local boutique (@shopadair) during my trip to Charlotte, NC. I can’t wait to rewear, and I think it is a perfect wedding guest dress look. I also attended a wedding, Tori and CB’s beautiful and fun wedding that was pink and orange and disco. It was formal attire, so my roommate and I got a Nuuly for the month to get a formal dress look. I absolutely loved the no I wore to the wedding, with my chartreuse Forever21 heels and clutch. My roommate Grace went with a zebra printed formal dress from Free People.
Also with the Nuuly, I got a Farm Rio floral blouse that I wore to work a couple times this month as well as in pictures with a campaign I shot for 1800Flowers! I paired it with my HalfofHalf seersucker capris and SheIn yellow bow heels. I got so many compliments on the blouse at work, too. If you haven’t heard of Farm Rio, I fully recommend seeking out there pieces. My last piece I got with the Nuuly (because my roommate and I split it— you get 6 pieces for the month but we did 3 and 3) was an official Selkie dress I wore for Easter. I felt like an Easter egg in the best way possible, and have loved Selkie dresses for so long it was fun to finally put a real one on. With that being said, 100% recommend Nuuly. It is the only clothing rental service I have done and have enjoyed it every time, especially during these busy spring months!
Lastly, here’s a few in between moments and outfits from April! Earlier this month, my roommate had one of her best friends come to visit Fayetteville (finally!) and so to show her around the Farmers Market I wore floral printed Zara pants with an oldie but goodie neon yellow fuzzy cropped sweater from Hollister (found at TJ Maxx) and lilac Reebok sneakers. I also attended the Enclothe (UArk’s Apparel Program’s Annual Fashion Show) at Crystal Bridges for one of my best friends, and wore a brown ribbed cut out jumpsuit (from Mystique Boutique in NYC) with thrifted knee high boots and a thrifted black beaded blazer (courtesy of my friend Natalie’s styling). I went to an Arkansas baseball game at Baum Stadium with Tom and wore red knit sleeve-sweater from Mystique Boutique in NYC as well, with a cropped white tank and a red Erica Skirt from Koch and high top converse— which I thought was a really cute outfit for a baseball game but didn’t get great pics in. A last minute free ticket opportunity happened with Garth Brooks came to perform at the Razorback Football Stadium, and was so lucky I was able to attend. We went with a group of friends and went to a crawfish boil all day leading up to walking across the street to the stadium for the concert. I wore a brown crop top (that reminds me of Skims, but from TJ Maxx), BDG Denim shorts, and Jeffrey Campbell white Dagget cowboy boots. What a time to be alive.
On Earth Day, I wore my gifted Dippin’ Daisy’s Festival ribbed velvet bikini to the river to enjoy some sun and the water that afternoon after work. I really, really loved the way the bikini fit me, the top was padded and fit me just right, which honestly it’s hard to find a bikini top that is flattering on me. They are also so reasonably priced I found, but here is my discount code to make them an even more flattering price! Code is DDXBLOGGIE for 10% off! I styled with my platform Crocs— I’ve honestly worn so much and really good for rainy days.
Lastly! I had my first pop up shop at Presley Paige for my small little bedazzled tights (+other crafts) business, @bloggie.creates! It was so fun to put myself out there in a way I had never done so before, and so thankful for Maggie and Dindi at Presley for inviting me! I wore a pair of my tights (of course) pink combat boots, TopShop pink shorts (I think have to be at least 7 years old :)) and a BB Dakota Pink sweater (seriously one of my fav sweaters, immaculate quality). Shop my tights HERE and send me a dm:)! After the show, I changed into my $20 Akira rainbow bedazzled corset top (clearly I had a small Akira sale haul this month, seriously one of my fav spots for unique pieces and the sales are too good) with my HalfofHalf pinstripe low rise jeans (my secret to lowrise is a lot of self tan, personally) to the Nostalgia NWA art show! My mom and I were dying to attend to see Alex Bodishbaugh’s curation, and that it was in our beloved (dying) local inside mall, the Northwest Arkansas Mall. It was so so cool, and LOVE that is was in our area! Got lots of compliments on this outfit, but sadly the top is sold out and the pants were HalfofHalf from a couple years ago.
Some shopping takeaways! I LOVE Akira for unique pieces, I got a frat formal date night function dress, two piece for Row (music festival day), and a unique top to wear to an art show all for $50. I think motif, fun prints that aren’t repetitive and more paint a scene, are in — like my Nicole Miller My Happy Place Maxi dress — but sadly I think is sold out everywhere now, which I ordered a Large from Macy’s last week! :(
