GAMEDAY
The wait is over, and it’s been a long time coming it’s GAMEDAY! After almost two years we are finally back in the stands at the U of A and gameday fashion is ON! Being my senior season andddd in person is so so exciting. + we play UT next week which is just another reason to get EXCITED, but thought I’d share my shopping cart (more like wish list) and ideas I’ve seen that would be cute for gamedays on the hill this 2021 Arkansas Razorback football season.
Here’s a look at some of my fav gameday mems and looks from the past three years. You can click on the image to find the link to shop the ‘fit or view the post! Will never not love a good Dr. Martens & plaid number, but the dramatic red flares were definitely a peak my freshman year. Of course a few collabs that are so senti honestly looking back at. From #riffrafflove to Francesca’s using my content on their website, to paid collaborations with Chooka red rain boots plus more, so thankful for what I have gotten to do with my itty bitty voice of the bloggie platform. :’D Thank you for being here for it if you were, and thank you for sharing and accepting my bloggie business AND maggie moments that make me up to a whole. Feeling like I could write a book while also struggling to put it into a sentence on what this “influencer” ride has looked like, but anywho, back to our regularly scheduled gameday content!
BUT we are here for 2021, arent we!? What are we wearing, what are you guys wearing? Of course I am always on the lookout for an iconic red statement piece for the hogs, much like my Mandarin collared silk red dress, or the red flares, but now a days looking to Zara for their solid colored pieces. I’ve found some dramatic ruffle sleeved bodysuits (in neutral) but a red organza ruffle sleeve dress that made it’s way into my cart for this season. I also am thinking how ribbed one pieces, tight romper moments have become such a thing that one could wear one to a gameday. I originally thought this Free People vintage athletic striped henley ribbed romper, but then forgot to actually check out w my cart and the black and white option sold out :(. BUT could definitely wear my red ribbed backless romper to a causal game day (while still in the heat) that I have worn as a bodysuit with jeans, to class for my last first day, and as a romper during the summer as well. Good zara purchase.
Everyone has been knowing or at least seeing the neutrals movement. I like to call it “brown heart emoji 🤎” vibes. I think extra cocktail styled neutral dresses is actually so fun for gameday. 1 bows are becoming such a thing (fashion repeating itself) and have found myself buying bow heels and a bow top. This neutral bow dress is exactly what I am picturing for a dressy gameday look. And of course we are seeing all the bustier, hook and eye corset styled after pieces, mix of figure fitting with large poof sleeves or ruffles. These neutral dressy dresses would be so cute for gameday. I picture it like the next ruched sheer skirt/dress. Still a cute look, too.
Leather and denim! Denim and leather! Plaid & sweater, too, for later down the road! Not that these are groundbreaking or new materials especially when talking about SEC fall football seasons, but I find myself looking for certain attributes this season when searching for my next leather outfit, denim piece, or cozy plaid or sweater look for gameday 2021.
When it gets chillier, don’t forget about your plaids and your sweater dresses. Firm believer and collector over the last couple years of good sweater dresses. Could totally see a stunning midi/maxi sweater dress be a sleek moment later this fall. Plaid tights (or printed in general) are always on a lookout to me, but a good gray scale plaid dress turns out so cute on a game day. Like my BCBG Maxazria dress pairs with my docs.
Denim! One of my fav outfits last year was my random idea of a tight strapless bandeau denim romper from ASOS with a beautiful red one sleeved bodysuit layered under. I would wear today, that outfit really came together and a tad ahead of its time with layering being all the rage. Back to the denim, denim corsets, denim tightness and framing quality’s I think really sells it this year. Love a denim romper moment, from my DIY braided belt denim romper I wore in Nashville, to my denim romper look last year.
My main highlight with leather are the pants that slit mid ankle going up. My dream leather pants are Amanda Uprichards, but still dreaming. I love the slit pants, even the $20somethings from Amazon, but something about them being leather glamorizes and sophisticates a pair of pants so much. Plus tan or white leather pants I bet will be everywhere this year. Or leather sets, leather bustiers, or ruched leather looks (which is kinda an oxymoron) but all so cute so gameday so woo pig, but yes leather front slit pants are 🔥 to me.
SHOES! Big fan of Dr. Martens for game day, and recently caved into buying my first pair of cowboy boots. Went with a two tone white and tan pair from Amazon, to go along with the knee high white boot trends. Seeing so many mid calf height Bodega knock off styled boots, and you can find for such a range of prices, too. Croc knee high boots aren’t going anywhere yet either.
Monochrome is always a fav look of mine, plus feathers is pretty much my obsession this year. I wore this Akira dress (that I got on sale for under $40) to a Valentine’s Day party, and borrowed the beauties Jeffrey Campbell Dagget boots to make a white on white gameday look for Labor Day Weekend.
I’d love to hear what everyone is looking for this gameday season and will be on the lookout for more trends to come!
