Weekend in Wilmington! Wilmy is a recent fav beach trip, and my fav I mean I’ve frequented twice in the past year and can’t wait till the next time. My brother and sister in law live in Charlotte, NC, so Wilmington is a just a skip away for them. This Labor Day Weekend, they had a place to stay as long as I could meet them out there. After a long travel day of delays, a cancellation, Ubers and an accidental booking to Jacksonville, NC — I made it to Wilmington with plenty of time to do 0 labor this weekend.
Our place was walking distance to Wrightsville Beach, with Adapt Juice Bar, a little grocery and beach shops, plus a few other bars and restaurants right underneath it and around. Adapt was one of our stops the first time we went to Wilmington, and has one of the best açaí bowls. A bowl was definitely the first stop after getting my swimsuit on.
We beached for the rest of Saturday, and finished the night at a new-to-us spot, Tower 7. My brother and SIL have been to Wilmington probably 7 times at this point, their fav dinner spots have been Dockside and Oceanic. Their ultimate fav spot at Wilmington is Sundays Cafe — we of course started our Sunday there post beach sunrise watching.
Sundays is across the street from a pier with beach parking all around, there’s even Saturday morning yoga on the pier that we tried my first visit to Wilmington. Get your coffee, breakfast, and even a bowl with a whopping scoop of peanut butter or almond butter. The photos speak for themselves:
We beached all day Sunday until we were crispy. I finished a book I got Friday — Lucy Score’s new book No More Secrets, quick 250pager in the case of looking for a quick weekend book. We then showered off, rested, and headed to Dockside for a pre-dinner drink and to watch the boats. Very Summer I Turned Pretty there, whereas where our airbnb was very Pogue-like. In case you didn’t know, Outer Banks and Summer I Turned Pretty were both filmed/loosely based on parts of Wilmington, so the vibes are there.
We got a pizza from a place by our Airbnb, and ate on our deck! It was perfect a perfect end to quick beach getaway with my brother and SIL- so fun spending time with the soon to be parents.
Some other recs from my first time in Wilmington — the first time we went was for McKenzie my SIL bachelorette, so was very fun filled and packed!
Yoga on the pier — so peaceful hearing the early morning waves!
Drift for breakfast, delish and huge menu!
Casa Blanca is all the Cali cool-beach vibes for coffee.
Adapt Juice Bar, my fav açaí bowl!
And lastly, gotta have a picnic on the beach of course!
