Girly girl summer became in full swing with a college-roommate reunion in the girliest spots in Colorado; Vail & Aspen. My first time at both and truly unlike any place I had visited before. Very European mountain-town inspired, with the best stores and views. When we weren’t giggling from our collected catching up stories, here’s what we did:
After our early morning arrival into Denver, we started the ~2 hour drive to Vail. We met our friend Kendall’s family who are seasoned Vail goers. We scenic routed up Mount Blue Sky which was about half way through our drive to see the views and the mountain goats. Down the mountain, we stopped at the original Beau Jo’s in Idaho Springs for their infamous “Mountain Pie” dipped in honey. I just love a pizza and honey combination, so this place lived up to the hype. We finished our drive into Aspen, and took a quick nap upon checking in before we got ready for our night plans.
Traveling, I wore a Stradivarius maxi skirt with a grey tank to make a set, with my Free People studded platforms (because clunky platforms never pack easily so might as well wear them to your destination.)
We checked into the Westin in Avon, right between Vail and Beaver Creek. After regrouping from our travel day, we got ready to head to our reservation at Alpenrose, a cute German restaurant serving schnitzel strudel and spritz.
To dinner, I wore my beloved Atelier Tulpe bow tie vest top with leather shorts + my woven boots I purchased for the trip. When planning for Vail & Aspen, I thought “boujee country” but also brisk summer weather, so I went with these woven boots I thought could be a statement with any outfit for the trip. I am also such a boots girl, boots are my hands down favorite shoe to wear, and these were so good for the vibes but also the weather.
Fondue always has a piece of my heart and Alpenrose’s heart-shaped fondue was just that. So delicious, and we all tried schnitzel. We also received complimentary strudel and gelato for dessert which was possibly all of our favs, along with our first Aperol Spritz of the trip.
We then headed to the Bad Kitty Lounge located in the heart of Vail. Had a night cap and good conversations catching up on our post graduation jobs and lives before heading to bed.
Sunday morning, we woke up and got ready for the Vail Farmers Market. If I do say so myself, my ex-roomies and I’s outfits were so good. While yes we dressed to impress for the Farmers Market, we were cute and had so much fun.
We got a lobster roll, cherry limeades and Yeti iced lattes. We shopped a bit at the Vail boutiques as well as the farmer market vendors and mainly explored Vail Valley streets. Everything is just so cute.
I wore a romper from a local boutique (romper was on sale for only $15) & exchanged the sash it came with for a statement belt to jazz it up. My belt is Sam Edelman, woven clutch purse was an oldie from my mom, and my woven boots making a moment again.
Sunday afternoon we headed to the pool for a little afternoon sun. We drank a spritz and hot tubbed and giggled and chatted. We could not stop laughing this whole trip.
Sunday night, we had tacos before heading to the Ritz and Beaver Creek for drinks. We dressed up for the occasion, I wore my horse dress I found at Forever21 ages ago I knew would come in handy one day. Grace matched my vibe with her cow print dress and we frolicked around.
Monday we day-tripped to Aspen, about 1.5 hour away from Vail. We arrived right around 11 when the stores were opening. We had ourselves a day! We lunched at White House Tavern, drank spritz at the Hotel Jerome, checked out allll the shops, and had dinner at Casa Tua. Everything was so picturesque, one of our fav photo ops was the Aviator Nation upstairs porch.
My fav place we checked out was the Hotel Jerome. Even though we didn’t stay a night, I loved checking out the interiors and reading the history of the hotel. Whether for a drink on the patio or a coffee at Felix Cafe, totally recommend Hotel Jerome.
The best little weekend getaway visiting a new place and spending quality time with my girls!
