CAPE COD
Cape Cod first timer, here! 🙋🏻♀️
My parents and I visited my brother up in Cape Cod while he coaches the college summer league in the Cape. We stayed in Harwich, and got to visit Martha’s Vineyard and Provincetown on day trips as well as Harwich’s neighboring towns watching lots of baseball, eating lobster rolls, and reading a few (3) books.
We flew into Boston and drove to the Cape the first night to our cute little air bnb, which was a home built in the 1700s. The history in Cape Cod was beyond cool to me, though we didn’t get the chance to visit Plymouth rock, just being within the first stops the pilgrims made in the Americas was so cool.
Our Martha’s Vineyard day was so fun. Was a tad stressful figuring out where to park our car before catching the ferry (we drove to Woods Hole and caught the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard), we had a grand time once getting on the ferry. The views were beautiful just on the ferry ride over, with lots of lighthouses and clear blue water with little sailboats on the 40ish minute ride over. Once docked in Martha’s Vineyard, we saw the oldest ferris wheel The Flying Horses, saw the cute picturesque Gingerbread Houses, and ate at . We then took a bus over to Edgarstown, which seemed to be newly developed and the houses and shops were beautiful. We walked out to the Edgartown lighthouse.
We got to visit Provincetown for a quick day trip, as well. Provincetown is known for being one of the first stops of the pilgrims so many years ago, but now as a LGBQT+ central spot. It was so, so fun. We got there early in the morning and it was overcasted, but I was in love with the windy old streets lined with flags and color as well as unique store names and restaurants. We ate at Bayside Betsy’s.
Beyond the few outings, we stayed within Harwich, Orleans, and Chatham. In Harwich, we went to The Seal Cafe almost every day to get coffee and really loved George’s pizza. In Orleans, The Knack’s lobster rolls were amazing and visited Hot Chocolate Sparrow a couple times (such delicious treats and coffee). In Chatham, we recommend Hangar B Eatery for brunch (& they have planes for short sightseeing trips to see the Cape) and visited the Chatham Squire bar after some baseball wins.
Beach outings: We went to Bank St. Beach and found out you didn’t need a pass till the end of June, so we scored there. I tried out Swimshe for a couple suits, and loved the daisy appliqué I wore one day, but was covered up in my coverup (thrifted Lily) because of the high winds. On the sunny beach day, I wore the appliqué green one piece from Zara, and loved it (also was saving for a special occasion lol). I brought my Hattack beach bag, which was a “fancy” more high end find from TJ Maxx. I also wore the most extra oversized sun hat, though the wind didn’t exactly cooperate in pics. I paired with an old gifted beach coverup skirt from Hazel&Olive, and green sunnies. Whole ‘fit here. For a beach pic moment, I wore the Banita Set from Free People (which was a look I had screenshotted and saved on my phone for months!) as well as my DIY, ALV Jewels inspired pearl stack of necklaces (inspo from Miss Mary Ralph), which all matched the star of the pics— my SemiCharmedWife clear shell purse. Was so fun for a beach look!
We ended our Cape Cod adventures a day early to head into Boston a day before our flight home. None of us had ever spent any time in Boston before, and I think it’s safe to say we all were fans. I would love to go back and spend more time, and as I’ve always been a New York girl, could totally see a future living in Boston (hypothetically).
I got recommendations from a hometown friend who went to Boston College on what to do for a day in Boston and was super happy with all we got to accomplish in our short time! My siblings and I split the hotel + Red Sox tickets to celebrate my dad for Father’s Day, so that was reason enough for us to have a good time. We drove in early, getting to the city right before 10am. We parked close to Fenway in a parking lot by Target, and walked a short ways to the T (public transportation train station). We got off at Government Center, and started walking the Freedom Trail— a guided walking trail that connects all the historical sites from the country first starting, such as the Old City Hall where the colonists congregated to plan the Boston Tea Party as well as the infamous spot of the tea party, and Paul Revere’s house (among other sites). We went into North End, Boston’s “Little Italy”, and went to Bova’s Bakery. We then ubered to Seaport’s Envoy Hotel where the Lookout Rooftop Bar is with amazing views of the harbor and skyline, as well as fun drinks and apps. We then went to through the Commons— Boston’s Central Park, and saw the swan rides (which looked so fun though touristy ofc, would love to do next time). We then walked to Acorn St. apparently the most photographed street in the world, and onto Newbury St. to do some shopping. We then took the T back to Fenway, and went to Game On! (a sports bar built in the side of Fenway) before the game and then went on into the game — Red Sox won! It was a whirlwind of a day, but thankfully a beautiful day to be walking around the city and was able to cram in quite a few Boston spots.
SOME OUTFIT DETAILS!
Traveling! I wore my new Daily Drills white shorts and Staud sweater— I think my most fav (and needed) for the trip, thanks to the low 50s weather evenings. Airport ‘fit linked here.
Martha’s Vineyard: Went with the perfect off white flowy maxi dress. Love the thicker material and elastic bust. From Urban Outfitters, linked here! Wore the brightest rope sandals from ASOS and my Staud Sweater tied at my shoulders. Whole outfit linked here.
Provincetown: Have been saving this WoahWaitWalmart (yes from Wally!) red and pink maxi crochet dress and this was def the place to wear it. I layered this thrifted Lily Pulitzer top, and Sugar+Lips cardigan for extra layers, as well as my new go to pink fringe purse and lilac Reeboks. Whole outfit linked here.
To the games: As I said, went to lots of baseball games. Intended to wear red for my brothers team color, but each night was too chilly to actually dress in what I intended to wear. Wore the one pair of thrifted Levi’s I brought, TeeKee flip flops or Reeboks, and either my Staud sweater, The Bar Sweatshirt, or my moms sweatshirts she brought :).
In Boston: I wore my TJ Maxx - Zara find red and pink checkered pants, with Reeboks, and white silk tank from local Hayley Boutique.
Was such a great trip. Great time relaxing, seeing new sights none of us had ever seen before, and experiencing new things. Would love to go again!
