QUARANTIME
HI!
SO! My classes, like most everywhere, have been moved to online (until the end of this semester), and with that all our functions, row, and events have been cancelled as well. I have moved back home and so have all my friends starting our 5 month summer now… with online classes until May of course. We went through one week of figuring out online classes and now on spring break, and with social distancing being more and more important I’ve been staying safe and staying home, and attempting to stay as busy as my busy self can.
First and foremost, I had alllll my room stuff from my room at Tri Delt this past year I had to find a place for. This past summer, two weeks before I moved back into college, I got a wild bored hair and cleaned out/painted/and moved my things into my oldest brothers old room. I went with a solid white everywhere and moved my essentials in for the connected bathroom and huge walk in closet I had been deprived of :). The bathroom counter as well as a shelf and the bedroom window seat had been painted a bright red from 2002, so those stayed. As well as the baseballs, soccer balls, and basketballs painted all around the bathroom walls until my mom took on painting it before I came back for this past winter break (she went with a lilac that actually goes so good with the bright red counter top). On my insta you can definitely tell I like to collage, and by collage I really simply just mean going on Pinterest and saving all the VSCO girl approved graphics, gathering my fav group pics of my franz from school or a certain few of my “bloggie” pics or even some overly edited pics I have saved on my camera roll I never post just like to have— go to Walmart or Walgreens and print 4x6’s. I believe Walmart is the cheaper option but found a coupon for Walgreens + ordered over the app this time #socialdistancing, so either or gets the job done. You can even enlarge certain ones if you wanna get artsy and have some prints 8x12s or so on. Then lay out everywhere. I took apart my collages I made for my sorority bedroom this past school year and added little cards and notes, and collaged away while finishing American Horror Story, LoveSick, anddd back to rewatching Gossip Girl now. Oh, and I hung a mini disco ball in the corner.
With my wall completed, I rearranged my room as I’m sure almost everyone is bored enough to do now. I’ve always LOVED rearranging my room and pretty much do every time I come back home. I moved my bed in an awkward caddy corner way which at first didn’t love but its definitely growing on me. Moving my bed caused a lot more space which made me think: I could use a chair right there. So, I made an adult purchase and bought myself a piece of furniture… that’s the point I’m at in the coronacraziness! A local vintage store, 410 Vintage Market, has been staying up on social media posting pieces available for curbside pick up while they are staying closed for social distance, and that’s where I found my perfect piece. A vintage white wicker swivel chair with a yellow cushion. I drove to the store, talked with the sales associate over the phone while looking at each other through the window, and she disinfected it and put it outside for me as I left her the money. No worries guys, we didn't touch and washed my hands when I got home.
ANYWHO! I finished my collage wall, changed up my room, hung the red shelf to fit above the window, and bought a chair and I’m calling it my quarantine masterpiece. Lol. But! I’ve thought of a few other random things to do while stuck at home as well as adding some other things I’ve been up to to maybe add some inspiration for the remaining time we’re stuck at home, hopefully won’t be much longer!!!
COLLAGE — pinterest pinterest pinterest, selfies, group pics, your fav characters from TV shows, your fav Bible verses or quotes, suns and moons and cats and tigers and butterflies flowers smiley faces and rainbows
REARRANGE YOUR ROOM — bc why not, you might be here for a while! I know some college ppl had to cancel their study abroad summer plans which is SO sad but we also don’t know how long this will actually last so might as well enjoy your space while you’re here!
ONLINE SHOP — local stores neeeeed you! I went by In Motion, the store I was so grateful to accompany to Dallas Market back in January to do a try on session for my story last Friday. Most every local boutique is upping their online game and most are even throwing a discount or two around. What else do you have to do? Just go give it a look!
OUTFIT PLAN — with your online shopping, aren’t you dying to go make up cancelled plans as soon as we can leave the house?? I am outfit planning for my summer plans of attending Kaleo (IF it doesn’t get cancelled), hopefully some weekend trips to see my bestiessss, and I just really really wanna go see a flower field of some sort, so if anyone has some ideal locations for me to see my flowers (like Texas Tulips!!!) l.m.k.
TIEDYE — it’s what all the kids are doing these days! I was suppose to tiedye a set back before I went to NYFW, even had the set picked out from Walmart and everything, but was just tooo tired to make it. I’m weak. BUT, since then I've seen so many people tiedye sweat sets and beyond and its the cutest DIY for a funky new fit. My mom had found a kids pink tiedye dye and some purple tees, and I went and got us black drawstring shorts from Target. We messed up the pink tiedye by not letting it sit long enough, but used normal gel bleach on the black and we’re super happy with those! I *think the key is 100% cotton or things won’t dye, and I think. we just messed up the pink. Wasn’t her it was us.
PLANT — last week we went and bought a couple random succulents and mini plants. We have had some random little planters and since we have planted them it’s made our counters look a little more lively, perfect for us heading into summer so early! I had a red lips painted bowl I’ve had from Anthropologie I planted in for my red bathroom counter. Also if you’re into funk, Target’s dollar section has dinosaur planters and we have the blue one for our kitchen. SO cute rawr XD
CHALK — next on our list! And I’m sure you’ve seen from all the insta influencers, chalk up your driveway for something fun and easy to do outside.
WATERCOLOR — as I’m typing my mom is watercoloring a Gucci painting haha. If you’re into the craftiness, dig out your old watercolor set and let your creative juices flowwww.
PAINT YOUR NAILS — I got a Sally Hansen Jelly Bean multi color polish last week and have loved it but also picked up a nail pen. Get ready for whatever nails come next.
CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOST — also next on my list. Usually I’m biting at the bits to clean out my closet but surely I will get to it soon. Closet sale soooooon yaaaaay plsbuymystuff.
SELF CARE — no where to go = no reason for makeup and heat on hair so yayyyy time to refresh everything. I’ve been applying self tan on the rainy days and have been LOVING laying out on these past few sunny days. Oh and got a $5 lip scrub from Target, loved it. Face masks and moisturizing go a long way hehe.
WALK & READ & RELAX — how often do we absolutely have to stay home? Like never. Don’t get me wrong I wish I was at my friends lake house right now with a group of them but here I am #staying #home. But, learning to be grateful for this time to actually chill because I am always always always on the go nonstop, so maybe there is some good in this.
